LULLABY MOVEMENT: A SONG CYCLE
Sophia Brous, Leo Abrahams, David Coulter (AUS/UK/USA)

WORLD PREMIERE

A sleepless girl lies on a pebble beach on the edge of the universe...

Lullaby Movement is a theatrical song cycle created by Australian vocalist and composer Sophia Brous with revered British multi-instrumentalists David Coulter (Yoko Ono, Kronos Quartet) and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Imogen Heap).

The song cycle explores the sublime world of lullaby ritual, performed in over 25 languages learned by Brous from with migrant and refugee communities from around the world since 2015.

Drawing a unique sound world of acoustic and electronic textures interwoven with Brous' sublime and powerful vocal performance, the piece emerges as an exploration into a universal common need for refuge, containment and safety, at a time when 21st century geopolitics and migration are upending our notions of identity and protection.
